If you have questions about diabetes or diabetes management, you need to ask them. If you have concerns you need to voice them.

Who’s on my diabetes healthcare team?

  • Doctor: for checkups and medical advice
  • Diabetes educator: for help figuring out diabetes management
  • Mental health professional (social worker, counselor or psychiatrist): for help dealing with stress and other issues related to diabetes.
  • Dietician: creates your meal plan
  • Eye doctor (ophthalmologist or optometrist): ensures your eyes keep healthy
  • Podiatrist (foot specialist): keeps your feet healthy (if referred to by your doctor)
  • Pharmacist: helps you choose the right diabetes supplies
